Ravi Bahl

Certified Coaching Professional

Hello ! I appreciate your interest in what I have to offer and would love to meet & discuss how  my coaching programs will work for you. While you are here let me for by way of introduction tell you a bit about myself.

I have been in the coaching profession since 2002 and my work spans life, business & executive coaching. After a 17-year long career in IT & management consulting, I realised my real calling was to develop others. It was then that I took a step into the world of coaching. In the initial few years of my coaching career, I worked with professionals, helping them work their way from employment to entrepreneurship, and also with small business owners, helping them systemise their businesses to create more time for themselves. After doing that for a few years, I had the opportunity to coach business executives &  mid to senior level managers in a variety of organisations, helping them to become more effective leaders. Then came a turning point in my life and a series of big lessons came my way. These not only impacted me personally, but also the way I coach.

In the year 2014, I had the opportunity to go to a retreat in India to learn Vipassana meditation. For a long time I had wanted to explore meditation for the calmness that I had heard it brings. Since stress was a fairly common theme that I encountered in my work as a coach, I always had an interest to dig deeper into this. I have been a regular meditation practitioner ever since I went to the retreat and there have been several benefits that I have personally experienced thru it, such as greater peace & focus to name some. Somehow having tasted the impact spirituality can have on the quality of our lives, I have since gone on to further study The Bhagavad Gita, and also explore the teachings of some spiritual masters from both the east and the west. These teachings, as I worked them into my life, brought even further benefits like being able to counter fears and consequently be more courageous; developing an understanding of why we & other people behave the way we do, which taught me to be more empathetic, have better relationships, and so on. The lessons have been transformational for me, and can potentially have a big impact on anyone if they go about seriously integrating them in their life. Essentially, what happens is that the barriers that earlier would have detracted from us being the best version of ourselves get by & by knocked down.  Keeping this in mind, I have lately started blending in all these learnings into my coaching - for those who are open to it, by making them simple to understand.

I of course have other things under my belt that people value, like certifications in coaching & exposures to various coaching methodologies. These came about as a result of my past affiliations in the people development space, with organisations like - Lee Hecht Harrison, Dale Carnegie Associates, ActionCoach, Felix Global and Certified Coaches Federation, but none of those are as significant as the experiences such as the one's I have described above. There are many things that one could talk about, but rather than me, let's make it about you, now. It's my mission to help others BE MORE TO DO MORE and now that you are here, lets meet and explore possibilities. We can do so in person if you live in the Greater Toronto Area in Canada or otherwise by way of  via video-conferencing.

Here's what some clients have to say...

Ravi conducted detailed 360' interviews with several senior, peer and junior colleagues to identify key strengths I should leverage more as well as suggested areas to develop as I advance in my career. The one-on-one coaching sessions afforded an opportunity for significant discussion and introspection about career (and life) choices and the framework for active goal-setting.

At core to the coaching experience are a strengthened self-awareness, a commitment to declare and pursue measurable goals, and the discipline to actively focus on improving those skills required for career advancement: these are just some of the 'takeaways' once the formal coaching has ended. I am now taking a more deliberate approach in the pursuit of career goals and my positioning of these goals with senior management. In the execution of a growth initiative of my client portfolio, I am bringing a more strategic vision to portfolio planning, client relationship development, and product partnering rather than a more historical focus on subject-matter expertise.

It has been a great experience going through Leadership coaching since last October and I have seen marked changes in myself which will help me in the leadership roles in the future.  Following are the learnings that I have been able to practice:

1. I have learnt how to deal with people and influence them through the principles of Dale Carnegie's 'How to Influence People' - being a good listener, being genuinely interested in other people, praising people, etc. This has helped my overall outlook as a person.

2. Stand and talk confidently in front of a large gathering. While I was afraid to take the podium to start with, through the coaching I have been able
to address my large groups (close to 400) through All Hands very effectively. The coaching that I had got on communication skills made the difference.

3. Managing tough situations with associates who come with complaints or giving developmental feedback.

Apart from these there were many frame works, tips and techniques that I learnt on various areas like Public Speaking, Building Trust, moving through the cycle of Unconscious Incompetence to Unconscious Competence, etc.

Ravi, thanks a lot for helping me through this development. Your style of giving analogies and telling stories to drive home the point is excellent.

At the very outset, I take this opportunity to thank you for leading me as a coach on my path of learning. Having said that let me also acknowledge that to agree to the idea of having a coach was one of the most difficult decision of my professional career of 20 years. It was very disturbing to fathom that I need to change and therefore had serious reservations of the concept of having a coach. I also had apprehensions about what my team and peers will think about me if I agree to have a coach. However, I decided to give it a try by meeting you and then decide.

Let me admit that my first interaction with you helped me overcome most of my apprehensions. Subsequent interactions with you made me feel more comfortable and decided to go along. What I liked the most about your coaching is your approach to it - taking feedback from various stakeholders within the company and sharing it with me in a very positive way. Frequent sharing of feedback and maintaining complete confidentiality has gone a long way in my process of learning with you.

Let me admit that coaching has helped me a great deal. I feel more relaxed at work and amongst family and friends resulting into building better connect with people who matter  to me. My team as well as my family has responded very positively to these changes, which encouraged me even more. I also acknowledge that it is just the beginning of the positive change in me and you acted as the catalyst.

Ravi, thank you so much for guiding me on this path.
